HOW TO SUPPLY ART CORRECTLY
When supplying your artwork for professional printing, there are certain specifications
needed to ensure that the printing process runs smoothly and also to ensure your job is
printed to the quality expected.
Vector Graphics
Are infinitely scalable, which means no matter how large they are printed they will always look crisp. As a general rule vector elements should be used where ever possible for items such as logos, text, illustrations, graphical elements, shapes and lines. Vector images are scalable and exactly what a graphic designer and print shop need to create the best outcome.
File types are ai, pdf and eps.
These art files are the types your logo should originate.

Bitmap Graphics
Are made up of pixels. Common bitmap filetypes are .jpg, .bmp, .tiff, .png and .gif. When a bitmap image is scaled larger than it’s native dimensions it will become pixelated (blocky) when printed.
When using bitmap elements in your artwork, use the highest resolution possible (300dpi or higher is preferred). Bitmap images downloaded from the internet are often low resolution and heavily compressed meaning they aren’t always ideal for printing.
Zoom into your image you will notice the image loses its sharpness and clarity this is how it will be printed.
• TIF is a large raster file.
• JPG and PNG are smaller images and are generally used on the web
• Sneaky… Opening a JPG and saving it as an AI, Pdf or Eps file does not make it vector art.
